Staff Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in New York City, United States, or Toronto, Canada

Salary: CA$184,000–CA$314,000 per year base salary for candidates based in Canada; expected OTE is CA$204,000–CA$348,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead high-impact initiatives across Decisioning Studio, including agent setup, creative and launch workflows, reporting, and services connecting the user experience to machine learning pipelines.
• Build full-stack product experiences spanning dashboard interfaces, APIs, data models, background jobs, and platform services.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and ML Engineering to translate the AI product roadmap into intuitive and reliable software.
• Lead web application architecture efforts focused on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Influence product strategy and technical decisions while supporting teams implementing Braze AI solutions.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a high-performance culture of quality and technical growth.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience with a strong record of delivering impact.
• Strong full-stack development skills, including data models, APIs, background jobs, and end-to-end product ownership.
• Strong frontend development experience with TypeScript and React; Vue experience is a plus.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable web application architectures and reliable automated testing practices.
• Expertise in agentic development, AI coding agents, reusable automation, and high-throughput engineering without sacrificing quality.
• Clear written and verbal communication, strong user focus, and experience navigating large codebases and mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience developing user experiences for machine learning and data-intensive applications.
• Experience building product surfaces on LLMs and agentic systems, including embeddings, agent orchestration, and evaluation.
• Experience with Python and/or Ruby on Rails.
