TL;DR
Electrical Engineer, Journeyman (Engineering, Analyst) (Systems Security Engineering): Developing and evaluating protection architectures, aircraft network architectures, and engineering solutions for Naval Aviation weapon systems with an accent on systems security engineering, critical program information analysis, and DoD acquisition processes. Focus on designing Program Protection Plans, assessing architecture compliance, supporting Navy verification and validation, and managing risks for complex military systems.

Location: Onsite in Lexington Park, Maryland, at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division in Patuxent River. Travel to other sites may be required for 10–15% of the time. The schedule is currently onsite and may include a Compressed Work Schedule.

Salary: $70,000–$104,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Apply systems engineering principles to investigate, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate military weapon systems and associated support systems.
  • Identify weapon system critical program information and assess potential consequences of compromise.
  • Conduct critical analysis and modeling of proposed architectures and document protective architectures.
  • Develop contractual requirements and evaluate weapon system architectures for compliance with protection standards.
  • Support Navy Verification and Validation activities, program risk management, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Provide Systems Security Engineering expertise during Technical Review Boards and coordinate protection requirements across technical and Department of Defense organizations.

Requirements

  • At least three years of recent, relevant systems engineering experience, including Systems Security Engineering.
  • Experience developing Program Protection Plans and related artifacts, aircraft network architectures, Risk Management Framework Authority to Operate work products, and Anti-Tamper processes and products.
  • Experience applying systems engineering methods and tools to weapon systems and DoD acquisition life cycles.
  • Experience with XMA-ADT and CyberSafe, plus knowledge of NAVAIR acquisition timelines and aircraft network architecture development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, electrical, electronic, mechanical, software, network, cybersecurity, systems engineering, or a related discipline, or an approved experience-based substitute.
  • Current Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top-Secret/SCI clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of model-based systems engineering and digital engineering transformations.
  • Recent direct experience in Anti-Tamper systems engineering and DoD acquisitions.
  • Master’s degree in a related scientific or technical discipline.
