Location: Chicago, IL, USA; in-office policy requires four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office. A fully remote program is also available depending on eligibility and location.
Base salary: $211,000β$248,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do
- Manage and develop a squad of 4β5 engineers through hiring, one-on-ones, career coaching, and performance management.
- Own delivery end to end, including sprint planning, delivery commitments, service-level agreements, and operational health.
- Write and ship production code alongside the team while maintaining an active contribution to the codebase.
- Set the squadβs technical direction, architecture, quality standards, and sustainable engineering practices.
- Use AI coding agents and tooling to improve individual and team productivity and establish durable adoption practices.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics on prioritization, planning, technical dependencies, capacity, and cross-functional coordination.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience with people management responsibilities.
- Current hands-on coding ability and a desire to continue writing code.
- Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor in real delivery and helping teams adopt them with measurable impact.
- Experience coaching engineers on project execution, skill development, and career progression.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to motivate teams through demanding schedules and goals.
- Experience with Ruby, React Native, distributed systems, AWS data or compute services, and service-oriented architectures.
