Principal Software Engineer (Networking)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; most teams work from the office full time.

Salary: $147,000–$237,500 per year, with possible restricted stock units and bonus.

What you will do

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and performant on-premises network scanner engines and backend services.
• Lead development of UVEM network scanner services and on-premises engines.
• Optimize latency and solve complex computational problems using advanced data structures and algorithms.
• Troubleshoot and enhance production code to maintain high availability and reliability.
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and configuration management into deployment workflows.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment, conduct peer code reviews, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in the security industry.
• Expert proficiency in at least one typed programming language, such as Go, C, C++, or Python.
• Strong operating systems and networking knowledge, including the OSI model, TCP/IP, routing, and protocols such as TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP, TLS, ICMP, SSH, and SMB.
• Hands-on experience with network analysis tools including Wireshark, tcpdump, and nmap.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD workflows, and configuration management.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, a security-first mindset, and experience with Agile/Scrum.

Nice to have

• GCP experience, with AWS or Azure exposure also valued.
• GitLab CI experience.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, exposure management, vulnerability management, or network scanners.
