Software Solutions Architect (Defense)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Basic compensation: $121,000–$151,000 per year in California

What you will do

• Provide systems engineering and integration leadership for secure software applications supporting Department of Defense mission planning and operations.
• Act as the government technical integrator across software elements, Space Force and DoD product teams, prime contractors, and stakeholders.
• Define and manage software, interface, message, and data requirements, including API and schema expectations.
• Produce interface control documents, interface requirements specifications, traceability artifacts, test objectives, evaluation criteria, and acceptance measures.
• Plan and oversee integration into air-gapped, classified, and other restricted DoD environments, including cross-domain data transport and sustainment constraints.
• Lead integration verification, defect triage, readiness recommendations, technical briefings, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in software systems engineering or software integration, including requirements definition and cross-team integration leadership.
• Experience with requirements decomposition, architecture definition, interface specifications, verification strategy, and integration oversight.
• Understanding of secure software development, secure design principles, service-oriented architectures, microservices, secure APIs, and data interfaces.
• Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity delivery processes, RMF, ATO-supporting technical artifacts, Microsoft Office, and collaboration across government, software, systems, and cybersecurity teams.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or higher clearance and experience with DoD networks, classified environments, or mission systems.
• Experience with DoD-aligned DevSecOps, STIG hardening, security controls, and vulnerability management.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, containerized deployments, AWS GovCloud, or Azure Government in restricted networks.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Agile development, systems integration, interface control documents, or system-of-systems engineering.
• CSEP, ESEP, PMI, or PMP certification.
