Senior Director, Software Development Engineering (Database/Cloud Migration)

Location: Pleasanton, California, USA; flexible hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: $281,600–$422,400 USD in Pleasanton. Additional US locations: $231,800–$422,400 USD; Colorado range: $244,000–$366,000 USD.

What you will do

• Lead the Database Engineering and Public Cloud Migration Engineering organizations.
• Set strategy for database reliability, availability, security, scalability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Define multi-year strategies and operating models for secure, dependable public-cloud migrations of global enterprise workloads.
• Scale migration platforms, automation, tooling, and processes while improving throughput, predictability, and customer experience.
• Establish standards for incident management, disaster recovery, capacity planning, observability, service-level objectives, and resilient cloud-native operations.
• Develop senior engineering leaders and align Engineering, Product, Customer Support, Cloud Operations, Security, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in database engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years leading and developing management leaders, including Directors and Senior Managers, plus 10+ years building high-performing technical teams and delivering complex projects or programs.
• Experience leading large-scale database engineering, cloud platform, infrastructure reliability, or public-cloud migration organizations.
• Experience with multi-cloud architectures, including AWS and GCP, and migration of global enterprise workloads.
• Deep knowledge of database reliability, disaster recovery, observability, incident management, performance engineering, capacity planning, replication topologies, engine tuning, and distributed-systems latency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; familiarity with Kubernetes, container platforms, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and automated operations.
