RN, Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid schedule in Jupiter, Florida; onsite work at Jupiter Medical Center is required two days per week on a rotating schedule. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance and be able to travel to client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require.

Base salary: $80,000 per year.

What you will do

• Review patient medical records within 24–48 hours of admission and conduct follow-up reviews at 24–48-hour intervals using the CDE software system.
• Assign principal diagnoses, CC/MCC, Severity of Illness, Risk of Mortality, working ICD-10-CM and PCS codes, and DRGs.
• Clarify missing, unclear, unsupported, or conflicting documentation with physicians through written and face-to-face communication.
• Educate physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, and care coordination staff on documentation improvement and regulatory guidelines.
• Partner with coding and clinical teams to validate diagnostic and procedural data, resolve clarifications before discharge, and support accurate final DRG assignments.
• Review denial letters and prepare evidence-based appeals to payors while addressing root causes that affect reimbursement and hospital operations.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure.
• At least five years of acute-care nursing experience, including medical/surgical, intensive care, or emergency department experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, physician relations, organization, prioritization, computer, and keyboarding abilities.
• Inquisitive approach and openness to innovation, including AI-supported process improvements.
• Ability to work onsite at Jupiter Medical Center two days per week and travel to other work locations when required.
• HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification must be obtained within nine months of hire.
