Design Engineer (Mining Equipment)

Location: Edmonton, Canada; primarily office- or shop-based with 10–20% travel to customer and manufacturing sites

What you will do

• Develop, improve, and customise mining equipment product lines, with a primary focus on crawler systems for electric rope shovels and hydraulic excavators.
• Create and update 3D models, detailed drawings, design documentation, and product data in the Product Lifecycle Management system.
• Support reverse engineering, product improvements, new concept design, simulation, analysis, and technical checks.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and supportable.
• Participate in field evaluations, product reviews, customer visits, and manufacturing-site visits as required.
• Provide technical input on product performance, design intent, manufacturability, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience in mechanical design, product design, reliability engineering, or product development.
• Experience with mining equipment, construction equipment, heavy manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment.
• Strong capability in 3D CAD, detailed drafting, engineering analysis, manufactured products, design changes, and technical documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams.
• Current driver’s licence, ability to travel locally and regionally, and current authorisation to work in the United States without employer sponsorship are required. hirify.global does not sponsor employment visas or other employer-supported work authorisation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens NX, ANSYS, Siemens Teamcenter PLM, or 3D scanning.
• Knowledge of surface mining equipment, crawler systems, manufacturing processes, ISO 9001, mine-site requirements, MSHA, or relevant regional mine hazard training.
• Spanish language capability; French language capability is advantageous.
