Legal Counsel - Consumer Financial Services Litigation (Fintech)

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska; hybrid work with in-office presence three days per week. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Salary: $115,000–$165,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage an assigned portfolio of consumer financial services lawsuits, arbitrations, and class actions under state and federal consumer protection statutes.
• Set and adjust litigation strategy for matters involving servicing, payments, credit reporting, collections, and related consumer financial activities.
• Conduct early case assessments covering regulatory exposure, litigation risk, potential precedent, and portfolio-wide implications.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and business partners to align litigation positions with regulatory expectations and consumer protection obligations.
• Direct outside counsel, manage budgets, monitor performance, and ensure consistency with internal playbooks.
• Track case outcomes and docket trends to identify recurring risks and opportunities to improve the litigation approach.

Requirements

• J.D. degree and current bar admission in good standing.
• 5–7 years of litigation experience, including direct consumer finance litigation experience.
• Experience with consumer protection statutes, financial services products, high-volume consumer claims, arbitrations, and/or class actions.
• Strong judgment, business acumen, communication, analytical, drafting, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to explain complex legal principles clearly at all organizational levels, including to senior executives.
• U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
