TL;DR
First Line Support Production Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing): Troubleshooting and resolving production interruptions for advanced lithography machines in a hands-on factory environment with an accent on optical, mechanical, and electrical problem solving. Focus on developing short-term containments and structural solutions, analyzing root causes and cycle times, and supporting production output across night shifts.

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work in the Wilton factory with Front End or Back End night shifts.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot and document production interruptions hands-on with opticians, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop short-term containment actions and structural solutions for production issues.
  • Escalate process and procedural issues to the Competency Production Engineering team and advise on solution options.
  • Evaluate failed parts, determine rework paths, and safely use cleaning solvents in accordance with EHS guidelines.
  • Prepare failure reports, daily quality reports, manufacturing procedures, and technical work instructions.
  • Support root-cause and cycle-time analysis, cross-training, and production output improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering discipline; physics and materials science degrees are also considered.
  • Internship experience in production or manufacturing and 0–1 year of experience in a high-tech production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, ownership, communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform hands-on work, read mechanical, electrical, and optical drawings, and work under deadlines.
  • Ability to work onsite in Wilton and on assigned 6:00 PM–6:00 AM night shifts, including weekends and occasional off-hours coverage.
  • Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States Export Administration Regulations before beginning work.

Nice to have

  • Experience with optical fabrication or assembly, including etching, optical polishing, lithography processes, or optical contacting.
  • Cleanroom manufacturing experience and knowledge of statistical process control or PFMEA.
  • Experience with Teamcenter, SAP, optical tolerancing, specifications, or Scratch-Dig inspection.
