High Energy Laser Systems Technician

What you will do

• Assemble, integrate, maintain, and modify high-energy laser system hardware and supporting subsystems.
• Support production builds, inspections, configuration management, process documentation, and manufacturing activities.
• Install, terminate, route, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, cable assemblies, connectors, and subsystem interfaces.
• Integrate power distribution, power conditioning, energy storage, cooling, thermal management, controls, and support equipment.
• Execute developmental, qualification, acceptance, environmental, and operational testing while collecting system performance data.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, thermal, and laser issues; support maintenance, root-cause investigations, field demonstrations, customer events, and deployments.

Requirements

• Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, electronics, laser/electro-optical technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military or industry experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with complex electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical systems.
• Experience with hardware assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, testing, electrical systems, power equipment, thermal management, or cooling systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electrical or mechanical diagnostic equipment.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance required.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-energy laser, directed-energy, electro-optical, aerospace, or defense systems.
• Knowledge of laser safety, laser laboratory operations, high-voltage systems, power conditioning, energy storage, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, or liquid cooling.
• Experience with manufacturing, low-rate initial production, depot sustainment, field testing, customer demonstrations, or military exercises.
• Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance and prior military experience supporting electrical, weapons, radar, aviation, communications, or mission systems.
