Lead Data Engineer (Tax Product Development)

Location: United States; hybrid and remote environments are supported. Office locations include New York, Seattle, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Miami, Milwaukee, Dallas, Orlando, Atlanta, Denver, Boston, Raleigh, Richmond, Grand Rapids, Chicago, Houston, and Washington, D.C.

Salary: $140,000–$210,000 annually, with individual offers based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

What you will do

• Develop and support the tax data warehouse, tax data lake, ingestion processes, ETL/ELT pipelines, and Power BI platform.
• Own end-to-end delivery of large data engineering features and systems, including technical requirements and architecture.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain scalable data structures, pipelines, and integration solutions within an Agile team.
• Build data products supporting ad-hoc analytics, business intelligence applications, and strategic tax practice priorities.
• Apply software engineering, governance, security, quality, consistency, integrity, and scalability practices to data platforms.
• Collaborate with analytics, development, architecture, security, and other stakeholder teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a focus in computer science, technology, engineering, mathematics, finance, or accounting is preferred.
• Six or more years of experience in data engineering or a related role.
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, C++, or Scala for data engineering applications.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, complex SQL queries, stored procedures, database objects, data modeling, and OLTP/OLAP workloads is preferred.
• Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and tools such as Apache Spark, Databricks, Airflow, Talend, or Informatica is preferred.
• Microsoft Azure Data Engineer certification, tax experience, and public accounting experience are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps or GitHub, Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL Database, Microsoft Office, and Power BI.
• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security practices in distributed environments.
• Tax or public accounting experience.
