Staff Data Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Fully remote; hiring is limited to AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, KS, MA, MI, MN, MO, NH, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the target-state architecture and technical roadmap for a Snowflake-centered data platform.
• Build and operate reliable Python and SQL data pipelines, integrations, ingestion, incremental processing, schema evolution, recovery, and observability.
• Design Snowflake security and RBAC, including least-privilege access, auditability, secure sharing, retention, monitoring, and access for external users and AI workloads.
• Establish production engineering practices covering testing, version control, code review, CI/CD, secrets management, deployment, rollback, monitoring, and incident response.
• Own data governance, contracts, schemas, technical lineage, quality expectations, migrations, deprecations, and downstream-impact communication.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with Analytics Engineering, DevOps, Data Science, Security, Product Engineering, ML, and Integrations while influencing without direct authority.

Requirements

• Deep experience designing and operating cloud data platforms in regulated environments, including ingestion, orchestration, warehouse architecture, security, reliability, and production operations.
• Strong Snowflake expertise covering RBAC, secure access and sharing, warehouse and resource management, query and cost optimization, metadata, monitoring, and environment design.
• Strong Python and SQL engineering skills with experience in modular design, testing, version control, packaging, code review, CI/CD, and maintainable interfaces.
• Experience operating production data systems and delivering data to applications, APIs, ML systems, reverse-ETL workflows, or other operational consumers.
• Experience with data contracts, ownership, quality, compatibility, schema evolution, deprecation, and breaking-change communication.
• Technical or quantitative degree, or equivalent professional experience, plus strong cross-functional technical communication and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Advanced Snowflake security experience for employees, external customers or partners, and AI or service workloads.
• Experience building warehouse-to-product or reverse-data flows and customer-facing data products.
• Experience enabling ML/AI workloads with Snowpark, Model Registry, ML Jobs, compute pools, containerized workloads, or comparable managed capabilities.
• Exposure to Openflow, dbt, Terraform, data catalogs, observability platforms, or healthcare interoperability and EHR/EMR ecosystems.
