Supervisor, Insurance Analyst (Healthcare Insurance and Specialty Pharmacy): Leading an insurance analyst team handling benefits verification, claim rejections, prior authorizations, appeals, and alternate coverage referrals with an accent on patient access, operational accuracy, and customer service. Focus on coaching analysts, optimizing staffing and workflows, monitoring performance metrics, and solving complex reimbursement and coverage issues in compliance with pharmacy laws and HIPAA.

Location: Onsite in North Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $65,500–$125,500 per year

What you will do

  • Supervise insurance analysts verifying patient benefits and handling claim rejections.
  • Resolve complex prior authorization, denied coverage, reimbursement, and alternate funding issues with cross-functional partners.
  • Monitor calls, review cases, coach direct reports, and provide performance feedback and reviews.
  • Manage scheduling, attendance, vacation and overtime requests, employee issues, and hiring activities.
  • Track performance metrics, workload deliverables, progress reports, and payor intelligence for management.
  • Identify process improvements and support the implementation of new pharmacy projects and products.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in health sciences or business preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3–5 years of healthcare industry experience in reimbursement, billing, prior authorization, appeals, or specialty pharmacy operations.
  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a call center, physician practice, managed care, or healthcare insurance setting preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial and government pharmacy and medical insurance programs, billing, reimbursement, prior authorization, appeals, and specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, organization, time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and navigate other computer systems.
