Market Development & Flexibility Associate (Energy)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Denver, or Boulder, United States

Salary: $85,000–$110,000 annually

What you will do

• Support business development, partnerships, commercial opportunities, and RFP responses for utilities and government clients.
• Help deliver programs, streamline operations, and launch new projects.
• Analyze wholesale and retail energy markets to inform dispatch strategies, program design, and value analysis.
• Track regulatory proceedings, draft comments, and support engagement with utility commissions.
• Translate ambiguous problems into clear analysis, recommendations, presentations, models, and memos.
• Move quickly between commercial, analytical, regulatory, and delivery work as priorities change.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in energy, distributed energy resources, DERMS, demand flexibility, virtual power plants, wholesale markets, utilities, or energy policy.
• Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, including advanced Excel and the ability to work with Python, R, or SQL.
• Ability to work across commercial, analytical, regulatory, and program delivery activities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development and delivery.
• Comfort with ambiguity, frequent context switching, changing priorities, and short-notice assignments.
• Ownership, initiative, and willingness to learn quickly in a developing market.
