Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Reston, Virginia; only local candidates will be considered. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

What you will do

• Implement and execute the quality assurance lifecycle across requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and release.
• Design and execute tests for thick-client desktop applications, web applications, and web services/APIs.
• Develop test plans, test cases, defect reports, and test execution records.
• Perform automated testing at unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
• Collaborate with QA specialists, developers, and cross-functional teams in Agile and Waterfall environments.
• Create and maintain end-user and administrator documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Five or more years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
• Local residency suitable for working in Reston, Virginia.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices, including test planning, test case design, defect tracking, and test execution.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle and in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• QA-related certifications.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, or Ranorex.
• Experience with Confluence, Azure DevOps, or Redmine.
• Basic to intermediate programming or scripting experience, particularly in Java or C#.
• Experience performing QA activities in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services environments.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or OpenText ALM for test management and application lifecycle management.
