Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Oxford, England, United Kingdom; hybrid work from the Summertown, Oxford office when not working onsite. Travel to and work from client sites and partner locations is required.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack web applications and client solutions.
• Develop AI-powered software and deploy machine learning systems into production environments.
• Own technical delivery from design through deployment and contribute to platform and project architecture.
• Collaborate with software engineers, scientists, designers, product specialists, clients, and end users.
• Improve software quality through testing, documentation, CI/CD, deployment automation, and Agile practices.
• Contribute to sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of commercial software engineering experience across backend systems and platforms.
• Strong Python, API, relational database, and full-stack web development experience.
• Experience with Agile or iterative development, DevOps principles, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and deployment automation.
• Understanding of React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments.
• Exposure to AI, machine learning, data science, or production ML deployment.
• Existing or eligible UK Security Vetting at SC level and the ability to work in the United Kingdom are required.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and containerised environments.
• Additional experience in scripting, UI/UX, design, or data engineering.
• Client-facing requirements gathering and delivery experience.
• Embedded software, FPGA, or C/C++ experience.

Hiring process

• Initial discussion with the People team.
• TestDome coding exercise followed by a 60-minute interview with two Science & Engineering team members.
• 90-minute technical interview with a presentation and live coding, followed by an in-person team meeting at the Summertown, Oxford office.
