Director, Contract Development (Pharmaceuticals)

Location: Hybrid in Lake Forest, Illinois, United States. Periodic travel may be required for customer negotiations, cross-functional meetings, and industry conferences.

Annual base salary: $162,900–$271,500, plus a 20% bonus target and eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Draft, negotiate, and execute complex, high-value agreements for institutional customers, including GPOs, IDNs, hospitals, alternate sites of care, trade, and retail customers.
• Develop, govern, and maintain contract templates, standard clauses, and agreement language in partnership with Legal.
• Translate product, pricing, and customer strategies into executable contract language and advise senior commercial stakeholders.
• Lead legal, financial, and operational risk assessments and convert cross-functional input into executive-level recommendations.
• Develop analytical tools, risk frameworks, contracting platforms, and AI capabilities to improve the contracting workflow.
• Mentor Contract Development colleagues and drive improvements in drafting standards, documentation, governance, and process execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of experience, master’s degree with at least 7 years, or PhD with 5 or more years.
• Experience in pharmaceuticals, institutional contracting, contract development and agreement drafting, or market access.
• Experience working with GPOs, IDNs, hospitals, alternate sites of care, trade, and retail customers.
• Expert knowledge of contract drafting, agreement language, and industry-standard contracting terms.
• Experience leading complex negotiations for high-value, strategically significant accounts and cross-functional governance initiatives.
• Permanent U.S. work authorization is required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Paralegal degree or certification.
• Experience with biosimilars, generics, or injectables in hospital or institutional settings.
