Staff Security Engineer, Proactive Security

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

Salary: $193,800–$285,000 USD annually, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate core security products for remote access management, secrets management, tokenization, knowledge graphs, and access control.
• Partner with infrastructure, product engineering, legal, security, and vendor teams to embed secure design practices into product and infrastructure development.
• Lead the technical direction and roadmap for the assigned security domain.
• Establish operational excellence standards, support service reliability, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Manage security product improvements through triage, validation, design, testing, and implementation.
• Improve engineering productivity with modern tooling and LLMs while mentoring earlier-career engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience in information security or infrastructure engineering.
• Track record of improving an organization’s infrastructure security posture and operating systems in large production environments.
• Strong distributed systems and platform development skills using Java, Scala, Kotlin, Golang, or Python.
• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform.
• Expertise with AWS and GCP cloud infrastructure and management.
• Experience solving complex systemic issues, conducting root cause analysis, and communicating effectively through design reviews.
