TL;DR
Associate Director of Prototype Fleet & Repair (Robotics): Leading the full lifecycle of deployed Atlas robots, from fleet health monitoring and field support through repair and return to service, with an accent on operational metrics, technical team leadership, and electromechanical service execution. Focus on reducing critical repair MTTR, improving fleet availability, managing spare parts and asset tracking, and feeding field failure data into engineering and quality improvements.

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts; candidates must be eligible to work in the United States

Base pay: $180,000–$220,000 annually, plus an annual bonus structure

What you will do

  • Own fleet health, availability, monitoring, triage, escalation, asset tracking, and readiness for deployed Atlas robots across internal and partner locations.
  • Build and lead Fleet Operations teams, including Robot Captains, Fleet Operations Technicians, and Internal Application Engineers.
  • Lead end-to-end service and repair operations for full robots, sub-assemblies, actuators, and PCBAs, targeting less than one hour MTTR for critical repairs.
  • Develop repair instructions, troubleshooting guides, diagnostic playbooks, retrofit campaigns, preventative maintenance programs, and Tiered Technical Support processes.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Test Engineering, Supply Chain, Global Support Services, and program leadership on reliability, root cause analysis, spare parts, and corrective action.
  • Manage team development, operating budgets, headcount planning, facilities requirements, and fleet and repair priorities across scaling Atlas programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in field operations, service and repair, fleet management, or a related operational role in a hardware product environment.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including managing managers or senior supervisors.
  • Experience leading technical teams across multiple functions and building operational infrastructure, processes, metrics, and systems.
  • Knowledge of fleet metrics including OEE, Availability, Utilization, MTTR, MTB Fall, MTB Failure, and fleet-wide uptime.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Experience in robotics, aerospace, automotive, or another high-complexity electromechanical product environment.
  • Experience with FRU strategy, spare parts planning, min/max inventory management, and fleet tracking systems.
  • Experience managing repair or service operations across multiple sites or locations.
  • Advanced degree or MBA.
