Active Directory Services / Entra Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid role based in North Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: USD 84,500–162,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory solutions, including Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, application integrations, and Zero Trust controls.
• Design custom Entra ID roles and RBAC models for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate identity management and operational tasks.
• Harden identity platforms through policy tuning, privileged access controls, configuration standards, and operational guardrails.
• Integrate enterprise applications and cloud platforms with directory and authentication services in collaboration with engineering, security, and operations teams.
• Troubleshoot complex authentication and authorization issues and administer certificate lifecycle and authentication infrastructure, including AD CS and SCEP/NDES.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or a master’s degree with 4 years of experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD and Active Directory, including Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, and Entra ID Connect.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for identity-system automation and management.
• Experience supporting Active Directory Certificate Services and related certificate and authentication services.
• Knowledge of identity-platform security, hybrid directory environments, threat modeling, and control design.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
• Experience supporting environments with more than 10,000 users, preferably up to 80,000 users.
• Experience with AWS or Google Cloud in hybrid identity solutions.
• Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, group policies, provisioning, directory synchronization, PKI, AD CS, and SCEP/NDES.
