Wind Technician (Clean Energy)

Location: Forsan, Texas, United States; onsite at a wind facility

Salary: $41,600–$90,000 USD annual base range, depending on job level, location, skills, experience, education, training, and certifications. Eligible for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Assist with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical maintenance, repair, and replacement of wind-turbine components.
• Troubleshoot SCADA communication systems and complex turbine issues involving variable-pitch and variable-speed systems.
• Document completed work, parts used, and time spent through computer-based service reporting.
• Perform electrical testing, read schematics and wiring diagrams, and support balance-of-plant and switchyard work.
• Carry out LOTO procedures and mentor or lead lower-level technicians and maintenance crews at higher levels.
• Work flexible on-call shifts, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays, and operate and maintain a service vehicle.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or willingness to obtain one within the first six months of employment.
• Ability to climb wind-turbine towers up to 300 feet, work in confined spaces and adverse climates, and travel as required.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, mechanical aptitude, and ability to use hand tools.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and create or modify Microsoft Word and Excel documents.
• Higher levels require relevant electrical knowledge, turbine experience, equipment-repair skills, and the ability to read electrical schematics.
• Must pass the required advancement exam and oral board after completing the training program within six months of hire.

Nice to have

• Previous SAP experience.
• Associate’s degree in electrical or technical studies.
