Location: Hayward, California, with travel throughout the Bay Area to various depots. The role includes on-train and trackside work, remote diagnostics, and rotational day, night, and weekend shifts.

What you will do
- Provide mobile network solutions and field support across rail environments, including fault repair, diagnostics, testing, and cause analysis.
- Configure, install, upgrade, and replace routers, access points, switches, and other network equipment.
- Build test specifications and perform factory and on-site acceptance testing within required timelines.
- Manage faulty equipment testing, RMA coordination, spare-parts inventory, and manufacturer issue resolution.
- Support proof-of-concept projects, product rollouts, troubleshooting, and third-line support for internal and third-party customers.
- Hand over completed systems to client or internal support teams and provide training where required.
Requirements
- At least three years of IT support or engineering maintenance experience, preferably in the railroad or train industry.
- Background in IT, Wi-Fi, cellular networking, or field technical support, with hands-on rather than office-only experience.
- Knowledge of IP networking, 802.11 technology, RF technologies, Linux-based systems, and command-line tools.
- Experience supporting networking, Wi-Fi, cellular, and IT equipment, including industrial Ethernet cabling termination and device configuration.
- Strong troubleshooting, testing, root cause analysis, planning, communication, and customer-facing skills.
- Clean driving license; rail-sector health and safety certification and knowledge of rolling-stock regulations are desirable.
Nice to have
- Experience in the railroad and train industry or rail-sector health and safety certification.
- Knowledge of Linux scripting and rolling-stock regulations.
