Infrastructure Engineering Specialist

Location: New Bailey, Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days wherever. Eligibility for security clearance is required.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain stable network and infrastructure environments across network, security, storage and compute services.
• Install, configure, support and optimise network and infrastructure hardware, software and communication links.
• Translate technical architecture into operational services and collaborate with application, architecture, infrastructure and cybersecurity teams.
• Provide day-to-day support for internal tools, system health, project infrastructure and customer support contracts.
• Audit network and infrastructure performance, document processes and recommend corrective actions or enhancements.
• Share infrastructure engineering knowledge, develop tooling and mentor other infrastructure engineers.

Requirements

• Advanced IP networking experience, including Cisco Firewalls, Cisco ACI and load balancing.
• Advanced Windows administration covering AD, DNS, GPOs, WSUS and server management.
• Linux administration experience with RHEL or OEL, plus strong scripting and automation skills using at least two of PowerShell, Bash, Perl or Ansible.
• Comprehensive IT security expertise covering security management, monitoring, compliance and infrastructure security.
• Superior troubleshooting skills across a wide range of technologies.
• Eligibility for security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Monitoring and alerting with SNMP, WMI and bespoke scripting, including PRTG or equivalent.
• Database administration, SQL and data extraction experience.
• Cloud platforms, VMware, enterprise storage, Docker, microservices or service-oriented architectures.
• VoIP or SIP telephony experience, including Asterisk.
• Agile delivery experience and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
