Staff Backend Software Engineer (Python & Go)

What you will do

• Build a platform used by Data Scientists and Simulation Engineers to create, train, and deploy deep physics models.
• Develop backend services as part of a focused, stream-aligned cross-functional team.
• Own implementation through production, ensuring quality, scalability, and observability.
• Gather domain knowledge from Data Scientists and Simulation Engineers and apply it to the product.
• Contribute to software engineering practices through Guilds and collaboration with end users.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python and Go.
• Experience taking software from implementation to production, including testing, containerisation, continuous integration and delivery, authentication, authorisation, telemetry, observability, and monitoring.
• Working understanding of messaging in event-driven systems, with experience using tools such as NATS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Some professional or equivalent experience developing applications for Kubernetes.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Passion for the evolving practice of software engineering.
