Markel 2027 Underwriting Training Program - West (Insurance)

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Salary: $34–$45 per hour, with 15% bonus potential.

What you will do

• Develop skills to review, analyze, accept, and decline insurance risks.
• Apply underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures to support profitability.
• Communicate with underwriting management, product line leaders, colleagues, data analysts, and producers.
• Gain exposure to data analytics and digital technologies shaping the future of insurance underwriting.
• Progress toward an underwriting position after satisfactory completion of the training program.

Requirements

• College graduate as of June 2027 and available to start work in June 2027.
• Minimum 3.00 GPA and strong academic performance.
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and make sound recommendations in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong time management, decision-making, self-starting, and entrepreneurial skills.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future is required.
