Director, Collections Strategy (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Newark, Delaware or Sterling, Virginia office; the Sterling office is planned to move to Arlington, Virginia in Fall 2026.

What you will do

• Develop and implement post-default recovery strategies across in-house collections, external agencies, and attorney networks.
• Evaluate and enhance collections contact strategies, including building AI capabilities and using analytics to personalize borrower outreach.
• Lead first-line-of-defense testing and monitoring, including testing for new or changed regulatory guidance.
• Define performance metrics, reporting, forecasting, and analysis to improve recovery outcomes, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Present recommendations and analysis to senior executives and governance committees while partnering across business functions.
• Build, lead, train, and mentor a high-performing collections team and support staff recruitment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of experience in financial services, including collections and/or recovery risk experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. consumer protection laws, credit regulations, and industry practices, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
• Proficiency in SAS, SQL, and Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with financial forecasting, modeling processes, credit and financial models, and internal and external control requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, relationship-building, and prioritization skills.
