TL;DR
Specialist, Material Flow Assembly (Automotive): Developing and improving assembly logistics processes for electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs with an accent on manual and automated material handling, MES monitoring, and route traffic optimization. Focus on implementing AGV systems, managing picking and kitting strategies, resolving material-flow bottlenecks, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in automotive production.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States. Onsite role requiring 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings and events, and domestic and international travel. A valid driver's license and passport are required.

Annual base salary: $95,000–$120,000, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Develop and improve assembly logistics processes to maintain efficient material flow, timely delivery, and stable production operations.
  • Identify material-flow bottlenecks and improve line-side material availability and process performance.
  • Plan manual material handling, picking, and kitting operations using equipment such as tugger trains and forklifts.
  • Implement AGV systems and integrate automated in-house logistics equipment with existing production workflows.
  • Use MES and route traffic management tools to monitor production, optimize material movement, and develop contingency plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and logistics teams while monitoring performance and ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or assembly process coordination.
  • Experience with manual material handling equipment, AGVs, route optimization, traffic management tools such as TMS or WMS, JIS logistics, or material flow planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may substitute.
  • Strong understanding of AEKO Management, including steering and evaluating AEKO requests in automotive environments.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements, with strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-technology environment.
