Staff Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: On-site in Maadi, Egypt

What you will do

• Provide hands-on technical mentorship and represent the engineering chapter across teams.
• Drive critical, complex initiatives that impact multiple teams and take end-to-end ownership of a specific system area.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Data leaders to improve systems, simplify complexity, and remove bottlenecks.
• Lead the RFC review process and contribute to the evolution of application architecture.
• Sponsor chapter initiatives, coordinate mentorship efforts, and improve developer experience across the technology organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in an Extreme Programming environment with TDD, pair programming, simple design, and continuous refactoring.
• Strong experience building large-scale applications with modern programming languages such as C#, Java, or Go.
• Expertise in distributed systems architecture, including microservices, event-driven systems, and RESTful services.
• Experience with automated end-to-end testing, relational and nonrelational databases, cloud platforms, trunk-based development, and continuous delivery.
• Ability to mentor engineers and collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product, and Data counterparts.
• Understanding of lean and agile principles, along with familiarity with mobile architectures, trends, and emerging technologies.
