TL;DR
Senior Java Software Engineer (SaaS): Building and maintaining scalable cloud-based communication products serving millions of users daily with an accent on Java/Spring development, AWS infrastructure, distributed architectures, and microservices. Focus on designing RESTful and queue-based systems, optimizing databases and application performance, and supporting multi-cloud deployments.
Location: Remote, with the role listed in Cairo, Egypt; Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Belgrade, Serbia; and Istanbul, Turks and Caicos Islands. The role allows working from anywhere in the world for up to 10 weeks per year.

What you will do
- Build and maintain scalable communication solutions serving millions of users daily.
- Develop and enhance products using Java, Spring, cloud technologies, distributed architectures, and microservices.
- Support multi-cloud communication products and collaborate with internal technology, service delivery, and partner development teams.
- Work with AWS services including EC2, SQS, S3, RDS, and Aurora for cloud development and deployment.
- Perform database administration, advanced SQL querying, index optimization, and application performance optimization.
- Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, and developers using Agile practices, JIRA, and Git.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing complex software projects with Java and the Spring Framework.
- Experience with web development, RESTful APIs, distributed architectures, microservices, and the full software development lifecycle.
- Practical experience with message brokers such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Beanstalk, or SQS.
- Experience with Memcached or Redis, Python, Linux servers, Nginx, Apache, AWS, Maven, and Git.
- Knowledge of SaaS and PaaS integration architectures and telecommunications technologies such as SMSC, VOIP, or SMPP.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, together with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
