Backend Engineer

Location: Cairo office, hybrid

A fintech product company building accessible investing platforms and market-data infrastructure across the Middle East and North Africa.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate unified market-data feed services across Egypt, the UAE, the US, and soon Saudi Arabia.
• Process high-volume data and events with very low latency, targeting systems that support 100,000+ assets and hundreds of thousands of price updates per second.
• Own service SLOs, observability, on-call practices, graceful failover, and overall system health when providers or infrastructure fail.
• Work with Redis, ClickHouse, and PostgreSQL, selecting suitable databases and data models for different workloads.
• Own feed infrastructure and build redundancy across provider connections and hybrid environments.
• Improve technical debt and reliability risks while contributing through design reviews, code reviews, and pairing.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing, shipping, and operating reliable backend systems in production.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, performance, latency, throughput, failure handling, and correctness under load.
• Experience owning systems end to end, including production operations and on-call responsibilities.
• Familiarity with Python, C#, .NET Core, Golang, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, and ClickHouse, or the ability to learn the stack quickly.
• High standards for correctness and operational discipline in systems with real-world financial consequences.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers and downstream teams.

Nice to have

• Experience building real-time systems where latency and throughput are critical.
• Experience with ClickHouse or similar OLAP databases and performance-oriented query and schema design.
• Background in fintech, brokerage, trading, or another regulated, high-stakes domain.
• Experience operating hybrid infrastructure across on-premises environments and AWS.
