Process Engineer (Agricultural Processing)

Location: Upper Sandusky, Ohio, United States. Onsite work split between an industrial plant and office environments; travel may be required for training and technical conferences.

What you will do

• Drive plant operating efficiency by tracking and improving KPIs for energy, inputs, yield, unit performance, and other site metrics.
• Analyze process conditions and statistical data to identify root causes and optimization opportunities.
• Develop process engineering deliverables, including heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, equipment lists, operating procedures, and training materials.
• Coordinate process engineering activities and work with operations, plant leadership, safety teams, technical experts, contractors, and suppliers.
• Participate in process, project, safety, and design reviews, including DHA/PHA/HAZOP and process risk assessments.
• Lead asset improvement projects from scope development and approval through execution, startup, and performance tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Industrial, Agricultural, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of relevant process engineering design or related industry experience.
• Knowledge of plant processing, oils recovery, grain and milling operations, or biofuels.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Wonderware, RSLogix, and PowerLogic.
• Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations, design codes, NFPA 36, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
• Strong problem-solving, quantitative, analytical, communication, organizational, procurement, contract negotiation, and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Direct involvement in the construction and startup of plant improvement projects.
• Experience with high-sanitization processes and Clean-In-Place systems.
