Software Quality Assurance Manager (IEEE 802.15.4 / Zigbee / OpenThread)

Location: Hyderabad, India. The role is based out of hirify.global in Hyderabad and requires flexible work hours to collaborate with teams across the USA and Europe.

What you will do

• Build, lead, and manage a Hyderabad-based SQA team focused on IEEE 802.15.4, Zigbee, and Thread/OpenThread.
• Own hiring, onboarding, resource planning, mentoring, performance management, career development, and retention.
• Define and execute validation strategies for EFR-based wireless SoCs, including protocol, security, interoperability, integration, stress, performance, reliability, and regression testing.
• Guide Zigbee, Thread/OpenThread, and Matter over Thread ecosystem validation involving devices, controllers, border routers, and third-party implementations.
• Drive scalable automation, CI/CD regression systems, reusable test frameworks, lab infrastructure, and certification-oriented testing.
• Report quality metrics, risks, trade-offs, and release readiness while improving QA processes and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in embedded software, wireless connectivity, networking, or related engineering fields, including substantial IEEE 802.15.4 experience.
• At least 2 years of direct management experience leading an engineering or SQA team of approximately 5–8 members.
• Hands-on experience testing, validating, debugging, or developing Zigbee and/or Thread/OpenThread, with working knowledge of both technologies.
• Experience validating embedded software and firmware on MCU- and wireless SoC-based systems, including system-level debugging.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated regression systems, test infrastructure, Python, Git, Jira, and quality practices; C/C++ and embedded debugging are strongly preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours to support collaboration with teams in the USA and Europe. A bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics/communications, computer science, or a related discipline is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global EFR platforms, Simplicity Studio, Gecko SDK, or comparable wireless SoC platforms.
• Experience with Zigbee, Thread, or Matter certification and interoperability programs.
• Experience with Wireshark, packet sniffers, IEEE 802.15.4 capture tools, device farms, RF/network test infrastructure, and long-duration or large-network validation.
• Knowledge of coexistence between IEEE 802.15.4, Bluetooth LE, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience using Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor for engineering productivity or quality initiatives.
