Software Engineer, AI

Location: Onsite in Dunkirk, New York, United States; Monday–Friday during standard business hours, with flexibility subject to manager approval.

Annual base pay: $130,500–$145,000, plus discretionary bonus and equity award.

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain AI agent systems using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, or related technologies.
• Build FastAPI-based agent servers with asynchronous endpoints, streaming responses, health checks, and production-grade error handling.
• Develop RAG and retrieval pipelines using vector databases such as Chroma, Milvus, Weaviate, and Qdrant.
• Implement testing, evaluation sets, adversarial tests, regression tests, guardrails, prompt hardening, and safety controls.
• Build secure tool execution, observability, telemetry, cost and latency monitoring, and SLO-based alerting.
• Support containerized releases, technical documentation, operational improvements, troubleshooting, and cross-functional AI projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant software development experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on Python development, including Python 3.12+, type hints, and async/await.
• 2+ years of hands-on TypeScript development experience.
• Production or near-production experience with at least one AI agent framework, such as LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or LlamaIndex.
• Experience building and running Docker containerized applications, including multi-stage builds and foundational DevOps practices.
• Ability to work onsite in Dunkirk, New York and use standard office equipment; the role includes lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing systems in enterprise or regulated environments.
