Scientist I, Analytical Development (Cell Therapy)

Annual base pay: $110,000–$121,000, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus and equity award.

What you will do

• Perform cell-based assays supporting process development for cell therapy projects.
• Develop, qualify, optimize, and validate potency assays, including cytotoxicity, cell proliferation, and ADCC assays.
• Design and execute analytical method development and qualification studies for lead candidate selection, product release, stability, characterization, and method transfer.
• Maintain, calibrate, and operate cell analytical equipment and instruments.
• Create SOPs, analytical test methods, sampling plans, and batch records while improving laboratory processes and efficiencies.
• Support cross-functional NK cell therapy development and train team members on optimized procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or master’s degree with 5+ years of experience, in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, or biological sciences.
• Experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, DD-PCR, and RT-qPCR for characterization of NK or T cells.
• Proficiency handling and maintaining mammalian cell cultures in a BSL-2 laboratory.
• Knowledge of biotechnology manufacturing, aseptic processing, analytical method development, technology transfer, method qualification and validation, and process development.
• Ability to independently execute detailed laboratory experiments, troubleshoot problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Regular on-site bench work in a laboratory in Torrey Pines is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with cell therapy products, particularly NK cells.
• Immunology laboratory experience with primary cells and cell lines.
• Experience using multiple flow cytometer platforms.
