Principal Manager, Systems Innovation (Advanced Grid Technology)

Location: Pomona, California, US; hybrid work with required residence in California. The role includes up to 30% travel throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation may apply.

Salary: $233,100–$349,600 annually

What you will do

• Shape corporate strategy and adjust goals based on market direction, competitive conditions, and business performance.
• Lead strategic planning and manage delivery against portfolio milestones, KPIs, quality, timelines, and financial objectives.
• Direct corporate development activities, including target identification, valuation, due diligence, negotiations, acquisitions, partnerships, divestitures, and integration.
• Build acquisition funnels and lead the creation, incubation, development, and commercialization of new growth businesses.
• Design innovation initiatives that improve operational workflow efficiency and support sustainability and ESG objectives.
• Translate advanced grid technologies into scalable, operational capabilities through collaboration with engineering, operations, IT, cybersecurity, regulatory teams, vendors, research institutions, and industry partners.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of experience supervising direct reports and/or managing projects.
• Experience in strategy or management consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or corporate strategy.
• Experience leading large, cross-functional efforts with measurable operational, financial, or strategic impact.
• Experience evaluating technologies, executing pilots, and transitioning solutions to deployment or operational use.
• Experience working in regulated or mission-critical environments across engineering, operations, IT, cybersecurity, and external partners.
• Ability to represent the organization in industry forums, executive briefings, or regulatory-adjacent discussions.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or Business.
• Professional Engineering license or relevant advanced certifications.
• Ten or more years of experience in electric utilities, infrastructure-intensive industries, advanced technology development, or systems innovation.
• Familiarity with advanced sensing, AI/ML-enabled analytics, digital twins, advanced communications, automation, distributed energy resource integration, or customer-edge technologies.
• Experience with business case development, investment strategies, technology vendors, research institutions, national laboratories, or industry consortia.
