TL;DR
Director, Benefits – Americas Region (U.S., Canada, Costa Rica) (Employee Benefits): Leading the design, administration, and compliance of health and welfare, retirement, leave, time-off, and wellness programs across the Americas with an accent on U.S. benefits governance and employee experience. Focus on managing ERISA and ACA compliance, integrating benefits during M&A activity, overseeing vendors and budgets, and developing a U.S.-based benefits team.

Location: Santa Clara, California or Austin, Texas; onsite five days per week. Travel is required approximately 10% of the time. Relocation is not eligible.

Salary: $180,000–$247,500 per year, with potential bonus and stock compensation.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute an Americas benefits strategy aligned with global Total Rewards principles and local market practices.
  • Oversee U.S. health and welfare, retirement, time-off, leave, risk, tax-advantaged account, wellness, and onsite health and fitness programs.
  • Lead annual enrollment, benefits operations, and due diligence and integration for M&A and divestiture activity.
  • Manage compliance governance, filings, plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, and nondiscrimination testing.
  • Negotiate vendor relationships, monitor budgets and market trends, and guide pricing and plan design decisions.
  • Lead and develop a U.S.-based team while partnering with senior leaders, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of HR experience, including 5+ years in benefits leadership and 3+ years managing teams.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. benefits and retirement plans, including 401(k) and deferred compensation.
  • Experience designing, administering, and ensuring compliance for health and welfare, retirement, and leave programs.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, communication, presentation, vendor management, budget oversight, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week in Santa Clara or Austin.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or CEBS designation.
  • Experience with Canadian and/or Costa Rican benefits.
  • High-tech industry background and multinational benefits management experience.
