What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for experimental science work on atom-interferometry-based quantum sensors.
  • Develop, operate, and analyze next-generation atom interferometer quantum sensors to improve sensitivity and robustness.
  • Implement quantum control protocols on real quantum sensor hardware with experimental physicists, quantum control engineers, and hardware specialists.
  • Work with engineering teams to reduce size, weight, and power consumption and increase the ruggedness of lab-based systems for field deployment.
  • Collaborate across the Quantum Sensing Research and Engineering divisions.
  • Present technical insights through talks, publications, reports, and other written outlets.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experimental experience developing and operating cold-atom interferometry hardware.
  • Knowledge of systematics and optimal signal extraction from atom interferometers.
  • Experience with quantum sensor operation, automation, and data fusion.
  • Ability to collaborate across research, engineering, and broader company teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating atom interferometers outside laboratory environments in transportable or mobile configurations.
  • Understanding of dominant performance limits in fieldable systems.
  • Expertise with Python for scientific computing.
