Lead Hardware Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations is required under ITAR regulations.

Salary: $100,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the technical development of an antenna system or major subsystem from concept through production and deployment.
• Translate product, customer, and mission needs into system requirements, architectures, interfaces, performance budgets, and verification plans.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, RF, antenna, embedded software, thermal, manufacturing, test, supply chain, and field operations work.
• Manage development schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Lead system-level trade studies covering performance, structure, power, thermal behavior, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and deployment speed.
• Drive prototype builds, system integration, testing, root-cause investigations, production-readiness reviews, and field troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, RF, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5+ years of experience developing complex hardware, antenna systems, RF products, aerospace systems, or similar multidisciplinary technology.
• Deep individual-contributor expertise in at least one relevant discipline, such as mechanical design, electrical hardware, RF hardware, antenna engineering, embedded systems, or systems integration.
• Experience owning a complex hardware product or subsystem through design, prototyping, integration, testing, and delivery.
• Experience translating ambiguous objectives into requirements, development plans, schedules, and test strategies.
• Strong hands-on, organizational, communication, systems-thinking, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with phased-array or ground station antennas, satellite communications, radar systems, or complex RF hardware.
• Knowledge of antenna structures, RF enclosures, electronics packaging, thermal management, environmental sealing, cable routing, or electromechanical integration.
• Familiarity with amplifiers, filters, frequency converters, beamforming electronics, calibration systems, and RF distribution networks.
• Experience taking hardware from architecture through qualification, production, installation, and field operation.
• Experience with environmental testing, design for manufacturing, supplier management, and production-readiness processes.
