Product Engineer (AI)

Location: New York City; in-person, five days a week in the office. Candidates must be located in the New York metropolitan area or be open to relocation.

Salary: $200,000–$600,000 per year plus equity participation.

What you will do

• Own product work end to end, from understanding customer problems and designing systems to implementation, rollout, measurement, and production support.
• Build polished customer-facing experiences across frontend, backend, APIs, data models, workflow orchestration, permissions, integrations, and AI-driven interactions.
• Translate simulation, prediction, evaluation, and research capabilities into understandable product workflows that customers can use independently.
• Design for AI uncertainty and variability through clear states, human review points, fallbacks, retries, provenance, and confidence communication.
• Define evaluation and launch criteria, instrument adoption, task completion, quality, latency, cost, reliability, and failure modes, and use the evidence to improve products.
• Work with Product, Design, Deployment, Platform Engineering, Simulation Engineering, and Research to create reusable primitives, templates, workflows, and integrations.

Requirements

• Meaningful experience building and operating user-facing products from an early or ambiguous starting point.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals combined with product judgment and the ability to work across user workflows and system architecture.
• Ability to work across a modern product stack and learn whichever layer is needed to finish the job.
• Experience seeking direct user evidence, simplifying complex problems, and making tradeoffs among speed, quality, maintainability, scope, and technical risk.
• Comfort with loosely specified problems, prototypes, shifting information, instrumentation, evaluation, and production support.
• Willingness to work in person in New York five days a week, or relocate to the New York metropolitan area.

Nice to have

• Experience as a founder, founding engineer, or early product engineer at a fast-growing company.
• Experience building AI-native products, agentic workflows, copilots, or products shaped by model behavior.
• Fluency with TypeScript, React, Python, APIs, workflow systems, relational data models, and cloud infrastructure, or an equivalent stack.
• Experience with B2B or enterprise products involving permissions, auditability, integrations, collaboration, or complex configuration.
• Experience with data visualization, analytical products, experiment builders, research platforms, decision-support systems, or machine-learning teams.
