Location: On-site at the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, Maryland, USA; generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays. One weekend day per month is required, with ad hoc telework based on team, protocol, and participant needs.
Salary: $102,300–$146,483 per year full-time equivalent; compensation varies according to scheduled part-time hours. This is a part-time position at 32 hours per week.

What you will do
- Collaborate with attending physicians to assess participants, obtain health histories, perform physical examinations, document findings, and provide health education.
- Support informed consent, participant monitoring, protocol-driven interventions, referrals, phone triage, diagnostic testing, and continuity of care.
- Serve as an Associate Investigator by supporting protocol development, screening and enrollment, clinical trial consent, data management, and sample procurement and processing.
- Coordinate with principal investigators, outside providers, inpatient staff, participants, and families throughout clinical research activities.
- Participate in clinical rounds and protocol meetings, provide staff training, write manuscripts, and present research outcomes at conferences.
- Assume administrative responsibilities and maintain compliance with institutional and clinical research standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; foreign degrees require U.S. equivalency evaluation.
- At least two years of progressively responsible nurse practitioner or physician assistant experience.
- Physician assistants must complete an ARC-PA-accredited program, pass the NCCPA examination, and be eligible for Maryland state licensure.
- Nurse practitioners must hold approved nursing education, active professional nurse registration, appropriate AANP or ANCC certification, and Maryland state board eligibility.
- All applicants must provide documentation of a pending Maryland license.
- Knowledge of clinical assessment, counseling, diagnostic testing, pharmacology, medical management, FDA-defined Good Clinical Practice, and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines, clinical research ethics, and clinical protocol implementation.
- Clinical trial experience in a research setting, especially vaccine or healthy volunteer studies.
- Prior clinical experience with infectious diseases.
