Director, Global Sourcing and Procurement - Contract Manufacturing (Biotech)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives and category strategies for the external contract manufacturing network, including CMO selection and API sourcing.
• Manage due diligence of CMO partners, assessing technical capabilities, regulatory compliance, quality systems, intellectual property ownership, capacity, and specialized manufacturing capabilities.
• Lead complex negotiations covering commercial terms, SLAs, Quality Agreements, technology transfers, and IP protections.
• Build resilient supplier networks through dual sourcing, inventory buffers, regionalization, and risk mitigation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sourcing team while strengthening procurement capabilities.
• Partner with External Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Technical Development, Regulatory, Finance, and executive stakeholders, reporting on sourcing strategies, savings, supplier performance, and risks.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, category management, and contract negotiations for biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of biologics and small-molecule manufacturing, including upstream and downstream processing, fill-finish, analytical testing, API and excipient sourcing, and CMO markets.
• Experience leading sourcing teams, including managing managers and building or scaling high-performing procurement organizations.
• Strong expertise in pharmaceutical quality and regulatory requirements, including FDA cGMP, EMA EU GMP, ICH, and quality systems.
• Proven negotiation, stakeholder influencing, spend analysis, supplier relationship management, contract lifecycle management, e-sourcing, and procurement analytics experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, business administration, life sciences, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Nice to have

• Professional procurement certification such as MCIPS, CPSM, or CPM.
• MBA or relevant MS or PhD.
