Staff Scientist II

Location: San Ramon, California; local to project sites across the Bay Area. Hybrid work environment combining field-based work with remote flexibility; occasional overnight travel and extended hours may be required.

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Support environmental and stormwater compliance projects.
• Conduct stormwater inspections, field evaluations, sampling, and site monitoring.
• Develop and implement Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
• Perform desktop evaluations and site assessments.
• Train and guide construction crews on-site.
• Prepare compliance documentation and reports, support clients with pollution prevention, and collaborate on routine and complex projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in stormwater compliance or SWPPP-related work.
• QSP/QSD certification.
• Knowledge of stormwater regulations, water quality practices, environmental compliance, erosion control, site stabilization, and restoration.
• Experience with inspections, sampling, reporting, documentation, and compliance tracking systems.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Nice to have

• CESSWI, CPESC, CPSWQ, QISP, PE, or PG certification.
• Experience with SMARTS and the California Construction General Permit.
• Exposure to environmental permitting or natural resources work.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS.
