Software Development Engineer (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. All personnel working on U.S. federal contracts must be U.S. citizens and must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Annual base salary: $137,000–$205,400 USD for the primary location; additional U.S. locations: $123,900–$222,000 USD.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement solutions for a Kubernetes-based platform.
• Build and maintain infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and core platform components.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using Terraform and Argo CD.
• Maintain platform availability, scalability, security, and compliance with industry standards.
• Troubleshoot platform issues with peer development teams and provide operational support.
• Document platform components, share knowledge, and collaborate with engineering teams across locations and time zones.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required for personnel working on the applicable federal government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and software development engineering for the senior level.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes and production experience with Amazon Web Services.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code, Terraform, CI/CD, Argo CD, and at least one programming language such as C#, Python, Ruby, Rust, or Go.
• Experience with security auditing, compliance frameworks, and air-gapped cloud regions, plus strong analytical and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current CE credential, and an approved specialty certification.
