Software Engineer III - Core Platform Infrastructure (Kubernetes)

Base pay for Washington applicants: $164,652–$230,512.80 annually. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Own and operate production Kubernetes clusters, including capacity, upgrades, security, multi-tenancy, networking, and cluster health.
• Build and maintain reusable Kustomize configurations, GitLab CI/CD templates, Terraform modules, and Flux-based GitOps delivery.
• Implement Kyverno policy-as-code guardrails, security baselines, resource controls, and safe multi-tenant defaults.
• Improve reliability through observability, on-call response, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and blameless postmortems.
• Develop self-service platform capabilities that reduce toil and help engineering teams deploy services quickly and safely.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and platform users through design reviews, code reviews, documentation, and technical discussions.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
• At least 5 years of professional experience across software development, infrastructure engineering, and production operations.
• Hands-on production Kubernetes administration, including cluster lifecycle, upgrades, node and control-plane management, RBAC, multi-tenancy, networking, add-ons, controllers, and quotas.
• Experience with AWS networking, GitOps delivery, policy-as-code, reusable Terraform and Kustomize infrastructure, and CI/CD templates.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems, operating production systems on-call, and implementing metrics, logging, and distributed tracing.
• Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose language such as Go, Python, Java, JavaScript, C, C++, or .NET, plus strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Multi-cluster, multi-account, or multi-environment operations at scale.
• Service mesh experience, including Istio, traffic management, mTLS, and mesh observability.
• Experience evaluating AI-generated code and configuration for correctness, security, and production readiness.
• Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or supply chain domains.
