Principal Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Shelby, North Carolina, United States; hybrid arrangement possible

Salary: $99,000–$143,000 annually, plus bonus opportunity

Designs, manufactures, and supports electro-mechanical actuation products and systems for aerospace, defense, and industrial automation applications.

What you will do

• Design and analyze complex mechanical systems, electro-mechanical components, equipment, and packaging for customer requirements.
• Develop and test flight-control, door-drive, and other actuation solutions, including feasibility studies, prototypes, and data analysis.
• Support detailed design, drafting, prototype fabrication, equipment installation, debugging, and production testing.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing, maintenance, failure investigations, bid responses, and material review board processes.
• Improve engineering best practices, documentation, training, efficiency, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and coordinate design-support personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 10 or more years of relevant experience.
• Must be a US citizen and able to access potentially export-controlled information.
• Experience creating complex mechanical or electro-mechanical designs to customer specifications.
• Experience with 3D modeling, layout, and drawing creation using Siemens NX.
• Experience interfacing with customer technical and program management personnel.

Nice to have

• Commercial or military aerospace engineering experience.
• Commercial vehicle or industrial engineering experience.
• Gear design or electrical enclosure design experience for aerospace or military applications.
