What you will do

  • Perform static stress, fatigue life, and damage tolerance analysis for aircraft rotary and linear actuation equipment, including gears and related mechanical components.
  • Conduct vibration, shock, dynamic, deflection, and thermal finite element analyses.
  • Model electric motors, actuator assemblies, motor drive electronics, and printed circuit boards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to optimize designs for minimum size and weight.
  • Present analysis during formal design reviews and document findings in stress and thermal analysis reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Experience analyzing rotating transmission equipment, including gears, splines, bearings, shafts, and housings.
  • Finite element analysis experience with ANSYS is required.
  • Familiarity with fatigue analysis, high-strength materials, steady-state and transient thermal simulation, and tools such as MATLAB, Mathcad, NASGRO, and Orbis.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Altair/HyperWorks.
  • Experience using NX for FEA modeling and gearing or gearbox mechanical design and layout.
