Senior Staff Engineer, Structures - Launch Recovery Vehicle (Aerospace)

Location: Dallas, Texas — on-site

Salary: $166,632–$249,948 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical systems for launch and recovery, including power units, transport structures, maintenance tools, and launch and recovery functions.
• Create CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and technical specifications.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fatigue analysis for durable, reliable launcher systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and flight operations teams to integrate and optimize field support systems.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, validation, and compliance with military and aviation standards.
• Provide technical documentation and engineering support during flight-test campaigns and field operations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in aerospace, ground support equipment, or heavy industrial systems.
• Expertise with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis, material selection, and manufacturing processes for ruggedized systems.
• Experience designing deployable, transportable, field-ready aerospace support equipment.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD design requirements, FEA, thermal analysis, and fatigue or lifecycle testing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment; ability to obtain a S//SAR security clearance is desired.

Nice to have

• Experience with UAS or military aircraft ground support equipment.
• Knowledge of power distribution, hydraulics, and environmental control systems for aerospace applications.
• Experience with DoD acquisition, sustainment, and field deployment strategies.
• Experience supporting military aircraft maintenance and sustainment operations.
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance, or ability to obtain one.
