Machinist – Large CNC Vertical Lathes 1st Shift (CNC)

Location: Summerville, South Carolina, United States; onsite at the facility. 1st shift: 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Salary: $25.38–$36.63 per hour

Manufactures and services Navy and nuclear steam turbines, steam valves, and aftermarket steam parts, upgrades, and overhauls.

What you will do

• Set up and operate large CNC vertical turret lathes for precision machining to tolerances within 0.001 inches.
• Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
• Select tooling and materials, monitor machining processes, and adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling as needed.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to identify defects and verify conformance.
• Maintain machines, perform minor repairs, report mechanical issues, and document production and inspection results.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience operating CNC vertical lathes.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain quality and efficiency standards and communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to waist height and transport objects 10 feet.
• Must be a United States citizen due to Department of Defense requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense security clearances and approvals.

Nice to have

• Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Experience operating Fives/G&L 1600, 2000, or Momentum 2500 machines.
