Staff Technical Program Manager, ML Platform

Location: Los Angeles, Palo Alto, or Seattle; office work is expected 4+ days per week under hirify.global's “default together” policy.

Base salary: $178,000–$313,000 annually, depending on pay zone, skills, experience, qualifications, and work location. The position is also eligible for RSUs.

What you will do

• Lead complex, cross-functional programs spanning multiple engineering organizations and technical dependencies.
• Own high-priority programs from ideation through execution and operational excellence.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders on roadmaps, technical decisions, architectural trade-offs, and accountability.
• Use Python, SQL, notebooks, dashboards, and data analysis to guide programs and communicate insights.
• Build automation tools, improve internal systems, and drive platform-wide reliability, efficiency, performance, and cost optimization.
• Mentor junior TPMs and engineers while establishing the operating rhythm for scalable engineering systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 11+ years of experience across engineering, data science, or technical program management in software or technology, including 5+ years in technical program management.
• Experience leading large-scale, ambiguous programs across distributed, cross-functional teams, particularly around production reliability, operational stability, and performance.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience analyzing systems, building tools, or informing technical decisions with data.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Grafana, Looker, or Tableau, plus GitHub and JIRA.
• Experience working with engineers on technical design, architectural trade-offs, roadmap planning, and high-visibility initiatives.

Nice to have

• Background in software engineering, machine learning, infrastructure systems, or internal developer platforms.
• Experience with Spark, Airflow, Hive, Kafka, Flink, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Knowledge of ML development workflows, model lifecycle management, or experimentation frameworks.
• Experience with production systems, reliability initiatives, cost optimization, or high-scale consumer technology.
• Master's or PhD in a highly analytical field and strong presentation skills for senior audiences.
